Xcode and gfortran integration problem
By Raiyan Kabir at Mon, Oct 27 2008 1:16pm |
Hi. I'm trying to use fortran on Xcode 3.1.1. To do that I downloaded gfortran from High Performance Computing for Mac OS X and installed it. As the macresearch.org solution is old and declared not to work with Xcode 3, I went to google and found out a plug-in at http://maxao.free.fr/xcode-fortran-plugin/. As per the developer it should work with Xcode 3 and later. But I found that its not working with the gfortran I downloaded. I need help to work with the fortran on Xcode so that I can use gdb on Xcode.
If I need to install gfortran from other source I'll do that to make it work.
Please help me to find out a solution.
Raiyan

The problem is solved. I can use gfortran in Xcode 3.1.1
Finally I managed to solve the problem myself. I can use gfortran under Xcode 3.1.1. I downloaded gfortran from gFortran-4.2.3 and manually configured the target to use the gfortran. Thats all I'm using GDB for debugging ands fortran debugging in Xcode is as good as other languages like Objective-C, C/C++ and Java.

G-Fortran on Xcode 3.1.1
Hi Raiyan, I was also trying to use gfortran with the latest Xcode Tools (3.1.1) but the latest plugin I could find here (from January 08) didn't work. Could you please give me some clues on how to "manually" use gfortran (or, as I have understood, even other compiler such as g-95) with the latest Xcode? How do you manually set the target for using a custom compiler?
Thanks in advance,
Rodrigo
Having trouble with the plugin on 3.1.1
Hi all...
Great site with usefull information.
I have the same problem as Rodrigo. I am a newbye trying to use xcode for the university projects, but I can't make the the plugin work as the tutorial explains here
http://www.macresearch.org/xcode_gfortran_contest_winner_damien_bobillot
I also couldn't find this files ponted in the tutorial
"
The installer will install a fortran file template in:
/Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools/File Templates
and it will install the plugin into:
/Library/Application Support/Xcode/Plug-ins
"
Well, i am using gfortran with nano in the console, but i'd really like to give xcode a try with fortran, but after trying the plugin, fortran archives doesn't appear in the list of files or what so ever...
I am using Leopard 10.5.5 so probably they are elsewhere...
Thanks for your help,
Christian.
Dear Christian, Actually you
Dear Christian,
Actually you don't need any plug-in to make it work.
I'll try to make a graphical instruction so that everyone can use that for working with gfortran on Xcode.

Graphical instructions
Hello,
I am using xcode 3.1.1 and I do not have the gfortran option for the source files but only the fortran use template. I would be interested in the graphical instructions. Best,
