TenGrid: share Xgrid tips on a wiki
Author: Charles Parnot
TenGrid wiki wiki is a new, open, collaborative collection of tips, techniques and faqs related to setting up and using an Apple Xgrid. You are welcome to add your own informed contributions, as there are still quite a few places that need improvement. TenGrid was started by Charlie Strauss, as a personal pet project which collates the issues he ran into setting up distributed xgrid system. It has the potential to become the best Xgrid resource available, at least a very useful complement to Apple's xgrid-users mailing list and FAQs.
Right now it has three top level subject divisions:
1) planning out an xgrid, including a shared file system,
2) a huge Frequently asked question section that gets right to the point
3) and section on setting up a disk server.
A number of the Xgrid-related software packages related to xgrid management are also listed, but you are welcome to add a page describing the software and to even post code.
There's two areas it can use your contributions right away. Right now it's tilted towards password-nobody authentication and it would be nice to have people add tutorials and FAQs on how to set up kerberos under different situations. It also lacks discussion of using the Objective-C interface, as most of the content concerns the command line client interface.
A few teaser topics:
1) How to fix the NFS RPC ports so the OSX server GUI can actually work
2) How to get back anything from an ART script, not just a score.
