Stream processor vs CUDA core

I am new to OpenCL and CUDA and am having trouble finding information relating a CUDA core to a stream processor. Specifically, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 has 32 CUDA cores while the ATI Radeon HD 4870 has 800 stream processing units. I can't imagine 1 CUDA core is similar to 1 stream processing unit. Does it even make sense to look at this comparison? Is there something else I should be looking at when comparing GPUs for OpenCL work?
