Plasmid mapping software for OS X

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a decent program for plasmid mapping that will run on Leopard... preferably free. I'm currently using XPlasMap but unfortunately it's a little simplistic for my needs as it cant find it's own restriction sites or import .gbk files.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Unfortunately there's not

Unfortunately there's not much stuff.
You can try the demo of MacVector (that is not free...). Take a look to CLC or geneious, even if many essential functions are disabled in free version.
BTW, you should try Ape (http://www.biology.utah.edu/jorgensen/wayned/ape/) that is free but not "aquous", meaning that it has been built in Tcl/Tk.
There's also "Serial Cloner" but I can't remember if it can draw plasmid maps...

Good luck and tell me if you have found something else (I'm looking for some molbio tool too!)

EnzymeX

It might not be exactly what you're looking for but take a look at Enzyme X.

http://mekentosj.com/enzymex/

Its designed more for looking for restriction sites, but it has full featured mapping tools. Although I don't recall if it supports .gck files, you can check the list on their website.

Hope that helps.
