Macintosh Sytems Administrator
Macintosh Systems Administrator Wanted for a startup Biotech in total Mac environment.
Juneau Biosciences is a molecular genetics company located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Juneau will discover, develop, and commercialize novel diagnostic and therapeutic products focused on women’s health care.
The Macintosh Systems Administrator will be responsible for a network with multiple servers, RAID arrays, clusters and other high-end computing hardware. The administrator will evaluate, manage, support and configure hardware and software solutions to meet the demands of research scientists and corporate managers. Flexibility, ingenuity and experience will be key factors in meeting the ongoing network and computer demands of genetic and bioinformatics analyses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Two years minimum network administration experience in a highly developed Macintosh environment preferred.
• Experience in compiling programs for Mac, Apple Scripting, Mac command and shell environments, Mac RAID tools, Apple remote desktop, Apple Xserve cluster, MySql database management and other Mac specific management/resource tools.
• The following network related skills are highly desirable: VPN/ firewall management, email/anti-spam applications, interfacing with Linux/Windows/Unix environments, Internet TCP/IP routing, Voice PRI and VOIP solutions, DNS, Web and FTP traffic configuration and management.
• The following Apple Certifications are desirable: Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist (ACHDS), Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC) and Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA).
• Excellent analytical interpersonal communication, strong attention to detail and accuracy; good judgment; discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Effective communication and coordination with science and research experts.
• Commitment to task completion and willingness to adapt to new technologies quickly.
• Specific experience in human genetics and disease gene discovery would be a plus.
