Grants to buy Apple Computers

Hello everyone,

I am a social psychology doctoral student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I want to conduct a study next summer that would administer a reaction time test using a computer program. However, because this would be field research and resources will either be limited or of poor quality, I want to obtain 5 to 10 laptops and use them to administer the measure.

I was wondering if:

a- Anybody knows of any particular grant or fellowship that specializes in such materials or-

b- Has anybody approached Apple with such a requested and either received donated computers or computers at a discounted rate.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anybody can suggest lab software that is good for reaction time tests that would be great. I previously used an old version of PowerLab software that ran on OS classic and I would prefer to make an upgrade.

same need as yours grant for apple

I am hoping you have had success from some source to assist you. My need is for one laptop only, but also software and tarabyte external hard drive make the cost about $6000 and that is so far away. Let me know if you find something and I promise I will do the same.

You should contact your local Apple sales rep, who will certainly give you pricing information (educational discount, etc.)

However, bulk purchases of laptops for education can get quotes through:
Apple's "custom mobile lab" page.

Bulk purchases of servers for clusters can get quotes through:
Apple's workgroup configuration tool.

Take a look at those and contact your rep. Mine was extremely helpful in setting up my new lab.
