Forward and Backward/Inverse Searches with Vim (and Skim 0.6 spell checking)
I've posted information about doing forward and inverse searching in Vim with multiple viewers including PDFView, Skim, TeXniscope, and others. The VIM-LaTeX compiler.vim patch that I post makes all the necessary changes.
On a related note, Skim 0.6 was just released. One of its new features gives it the ability to spell check a PDF. At first, this seems like a strange feature for a PDF viewer that is not meant to directly modify the PDF content. However, it makes a lot of sense when thinking about inverse searches. Rather than dealing with loading every single macro you use into your TeX editor's spell checker and still not managing to check expanded expressions, you can just spell check your PDF and then Shift+Command+CLICK (i.e., inverse search in Skim) to get back to that point in the TeX source where you can correct the mistake.

MacVim Updates (Searching, Associations, Skim, and more)
Now that the nascent MacVim is becoming popular, I thought it would be good to give some updates to this subject.
In particular, see:
Of course, the "inverse searching" applies just as well to xdvi (and other DVI viewers) as it does to Skim (and other PDF viewers).
