Application Highlight: MacFusion
A few months ago the MacFUSE project made a big splash and was covered in detail here on MacResearch. Despite the hype and buzz around MacFUSE, I find that many people have put off exploring MacFUSE because they are either still trying to wrap their head around it, or they are afraid of any terminal hackery that might be involved. Those seeking a more Mac-like experience around MacFUSE should find comfort in the recently released MacFusion GUI for MacFUSE. MacFusion provides a user-friendly menu bar icon that allows you to quickly mount a file system, save passwords in Keychain, store favorite servers, and set connections to mount on start. MacFusion currently supports the SSHFS and CurlFTPFS file systems and the list is sure to grow as time goes on.
For those unfamiliar with MacFUSE and its implications I urge you to visit the MacFUSE project page, and watch the amazing demonstration video.

MacFuse Interface Bug
MacFusion works well, except for one small bug. When you install and run the program, you may not see the Preferences window if you have other windows open on your Mac (and you cannot do anything before setting your preferences). The solution is simple: either close all your other windows or use Expose to reveal the Preferences window. Other than that, MacFusion is great!

MacFusion with MacFUSE 0.3.0 ... get the beta
There is a beta of MacFusion that (currently) works much better with MacFUSE 0.3.0 than the one on the download page (at least in my experience). See the following google groups message:

I tested out MacFUSE when it was first released, but it was a bit clunky as far as user friendliness is concerned. Good find joel! MacFusion so far looks very promising. Now if I could get my mount icons to look like theirs....
preferences window issue
This was one of the earliest noted issues. As it is noted (and worked around) by others, I have raised the priority of the issue from medium to high and the Lead Developer of MacFusion is working, with the author of Sparkle, towards a fix.
