Buy some new apps for your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad...on us!

Now that I have your attention...

We're looking for original reviews of science applications currently available in the App Store. And to help get this going we'll cover the cost... and then some (see below). This is a great opportunity to try out that app you've been wondering about, but didn't want to fork over the money for just yet. For this undertaking, we want to focus on lesser-know science applications (although any science application that is truly unique or exceptional, may be considered).

Each reviewer will receive a $50 iTunes gift card (US iTunes Store only, upon completion of the review(s)) to offset the cost of the application, with the remainder as a thank you for participating.

Before you get too excited and rush off to write a review, there are some guidelines that need to be followed. Be sure to read them carefully.

- All application reviews/purchases must be approved by MacResearch.org first. Reviews not authorized will not be reimbursed by MacResearch.org, nor will the reviewer be eligible to receive the gift card. This is an absolute requirement.

Send your approval request to: iphone-review@macresearch.org

- The application must run on the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. No desktop applications (unless the desktop component is required for some functionality of the program).

- A minimum of two reviews must be completed. This requirement may be waved depending on the scope and complexity of the application being reviewed.

- Only one card per reviewer regardless of the cost of the application. The cards will only work in the US iTunes Store and have a limit of $50 (US). Other than the $50 (US) limit, there are no restrictions on the cost of the application(s) being reviewed.

- Developers or their affiliates may not review their own applications. If you are interested in getting more publicity for your app, consider writing a Showcase Review.

- Reviews must be well written and thorough. If you don't know what this means, then you're probably not the person we want writing the review.

- Reviews should not have been published elsewhere previously.

Some guidelines and suggestions when considering an application:
- Avoid learning aid applications (e.g., chemistry flash cards or periodic tables unless they're really unique).

- Avoid "general" applications. Again, we are interested in applications that would be useful and of relevance to scientists.

- Avoid reference applications (e.g. formula/unit converters).

- If you are in doubt then send in your suggestion and we'll give you a thumbs up or thumbs down.

- We'll provide guidelines on formatting once an application is approved.

Send all correspondence for this to: iphone-review@macresearch.org

The email for correspondence

The email for correspondence iphone-review@macresearch.org is not working for me! This is what I get:

"We're writing to let you know that the group you tried to contact (iphone-review) may not exist, or you may not have permission to post messages to the group. A few more details on why you weren't able to post:

* You might have spelled or formatted the group name incorrectly.
* The owner of the group may have removed this group.
* You may need to join the group before receiving permission to post.
* This group may not be open to posting."

Help!
